Back with a new video after quite a while! Tech Weekend is a new series of videos, accompanied by an article too, about the latest news that sparked my interest. They are tech related.

At the end of this article, you can find the video embedded, and you can also see it on my YouTube channel here.

As this is the first episode, it will be shorted. There are some pronunciation mistakes so bear with me as I am rusty at English (clearly, not my native language).

1.Back on YouTube!

After a big break, I am back! And now I am planning to follow a content schedule so it will be easier for you (but me too!) to follow the content and know when to expect it.

The video publishing schedule is like this:

  • Monday: a non-news video
  • Friday: techweekend, that means news
  • + as often as posible other videos

As far as other videos go, I am planning on re-making some old content so I can explain it better.

2.AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT comes with 16 GB of VRAM

Gigabyte listted on EEC some models of RX7600 XT with 16 GB of GDDR6. Double what the RX7600 offers.

More than the 7700 XT too, which sports ‘just’ 12 GB of GDDR6.

Even techpowerup.com lists the RX 7600 XT and it seems we’re talking about a Navi 33 board with 128 bits. Which makes sense since 192bit or 256bit would hurt the rest of the line-up.

Tha card will launch at 299 USD. Clearly a RTX 4060 Ti competitor. How good, we’ll see.

3.Nvidia announces the RTX 40 SUPER GPUs at CES 2024

Nvidia announced that on CES 2024 it will unveil their RTX 40 SUPER video cards. Some images from Zotac are already leaked.

As fas as I’ve seen we can expect the following increase in performance when comparing to their non-SUPER counterparts:

RTX 4080 SUPER vs RTX 4080: +3-5%
RTX 4070 Ti SUPER vs RTX 4070 Ti: +15%
RTX 4070 SUPER vs RTX 4070: +14%

As far as prices go, nothing but speculation at this point. We’ll see. The RTX 4080 SUPER won’t be cheap probably :-))

4.Ubisoft launching Prince of Persia the lost crown in 18 January

10Ubisoft is launching Prince of Persia: the lost crown in 18 January for most platforms. The system requirements are quite acceptable, as Ubisoft is stating that with a GTX 1060 you could play in 4K.

The reason why this stood out to me, is because of an old romanian magazine that used to present the Prince of Persia Sands of time game in 2008. It’s been a while!

5. Samsung is launching 3 new OLED gaming monitors

At CES 2024 Samsung will unveil 3 new Odyssey OLED gaming monitors.

The models are:

The Samsung Odyssey G9 – 49 inch and curved, with the DQHD 5120 x 1440 resolution.

The Samsung Odyssey G8 – 32 inch flat screen 4K.

The G9 and G8 come with a 240hz refresh rate and a 0.03 GTG response time.

The Samsung Odyssey G6 – 27 inch OLED, but at 2560 x 1440 pixels. It comes with a whooping 360hz and 0.03 GTG response time.

As a fan of two monitor setups, the G6 sound great! But what I would have loved, was 4K. Even if that meant having a lower refresh rate. I mean… 360hz is quite excessive anyway.

6.Samsung Unpacked will be in 17 January and we’ll see te Galaxy S24 line-up

On 17 January, at Samsung Unpacked, Samsung will launch the Galaxy S24 line-up. Just like the S23 series, we’ll have: the S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra.

And… if everything the leaks say is true, the S24 will come with the Exynos 2400. And that’s a shame. I’d avoid it if that’s the case and just go for the S24+ or the Ultra. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is just better.

The biggest camera improvements will be on the S24 Ultra as far as it seems. The S24+ will just get 4K@120FPS recording but the same hardware. So probably besides some AI features and maybe better software(?) that’s about it.

Of course, there is a RAM upgrade, a better display and other features. I care about the camera a lot as I use it to record for Techie Show’s YouTube channel but for my romanian channel over at petech.ro too!
